Delicious and Real make ahead mincemeat

This is the tastiest (and easiest) mincemeat recipe. It can be kept in jars in the fridge, makes lovely gifts and can be frozen

Ingredients

  • 2 apples peeled and grated
  • 200 g muscovado sugar
  • 1 orange zest and juice
  • 1 lemon zest and juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp mixed spice
  • 500 g dried fruit
  • 50 ml brandy
  • 100 g unsalted butter grated

Instructions

  • Put the apples, sugar, zest and juice of the orange and lemon into a large bowl with the ground cinnamon, mixed spice, mixed dried fruit and brandy
  • Stir in the grated butter
  • Transfer to jars or containers
  • Keep in the fridge, unopened, for up to three months or in the freezer for up to six months
